What do you do to create a little magic in your studio or at recitals? In my studio we have many things like “Carly’s fabulous music box”, Piano Parties, piano friends, scratch & sniff stickers (these are very popular!) and Nanna’s Anzacs.
At every home recital or piano party or even if our studio is hosting an examination session, I make my Nanna’s Anzac biscuits. This started happening just as something I made for the exam sessions to fill the studio with a lovely comforting smell to try and ease the exam jitters and for a post-exam treat. Soon students began requesting them at our events. One boy in particular said he would only come and play in front of everyone if I made Nanna’s biscuits! Now it has become an ‘in’ joke for our studio and something that the students enjoy having as a special treat when we share music together.
Along similar lines, fairy bread is a staple item at our Piano Parties and Concerts! I can only imagine the horror if I didn’t make it 😉
Ah good idea Thembi! Everyone loves fairy bread. It seems to signify a party doesn’t it?
